The test match between the top German soccer team, Bayern Munich, and Switzerland’s Grasshopper Club Zürich ended with Bayern scoring 4 goals against the easily defeated hosts.
The fresh on-board coach for the Bayern side, Vincent Kompany, is getting things done in his way. Though still adjusting to the new playing style, every practice and every match passed certainly make the team look promising.
Adam Aznou did really well on his right-back defense. However, the silver lining is that Bayen has another defender, Josip Stanišić, who is facing injury, which will allow Aznou to get more playing time over the next few weeks.
Two of Bayern’s new recruits have been doing very well: Michael Olise and João Palhinha. Olise even scored the first goal of the game!
Goretzka usually plays as a midfielder, and in this game, he played as a defender. Probably, the coach may retain him in this new position if he will not be allowed to play in midfield.
Thomas Müller is one of the older players in the team. Under the new coach, he played like he is the main scorer. He is now scoring tons of goals, just like he did back in 2016.
Then, the game started off right when Bayern scored the first. The score was already 1-0 by halftime. Bayern scored three more goals in the second half: Harry Kane, Mathys Tel, and Thomas Müller finished it off with one.
Event: Final pre-season friendly for Bayern Munich
Opponent: Grasshopper Club Zürich
Venue: FC Bayern Campus
Date: Tuesday
Time: Kick-off at 11:30 AM CEST
Context: Five days before their Bundesliga campaign begins
First Bundesliga Match: Away game at Wolfsburg
This was a nice friendly for Bayern to get some practice ahead of the real season. This afforded minutes for the players who did not see much playing time in the last match and helped keep them in shape.
The first real proper game of the season for Bayern is on Sunday, and this practice match served to get them fit and back in shape before starting the Prem in good form.
