A Documentary on BLACKPINK pop star Lisa is on its way: Here is everything to know
A Documentary on the South Korean Pop Star Lisa is currently under production as revealed on Thursday at an event previewing the upcoming projects by Sony Music Vision at Los Angeles.
The announcement of BLACKPINK’s Lisa film comes when the singer has started venturing into her solo career and away from her girl band. The movie is in partnership with LLOUD CO./RCA Records and Tremolo Productions, and will follow the artist’s life for a year into her solo discography creation.
Director Sue Kim will be helming the project among Sony’s several other prolific and historical figures of pop culture like Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Oasis and many others. Sue Kim is known for his award winning A24 documentary ‘The Last of the Sea Women’. Kim is also the one behind the Netflix documentary short ‘The Speed Cubers’, documenting the lives of speedcubing champions Max Park and Feliks Zemdegs.
On working with Lisa on her documentary, Sue Kim said, “Following LISA on this transformative and thrilling year has been a true honor and a cinematic gift. There have been so many moments on her journey that I think will surprise people and give a glimpse into her world that no one’s ever seen before. I’m excited for viewers to watch the film and witness this extraordinary moment in her life.”
Kim is also one of the executive producers of the docu-series K-Pop series so taking interest in working on a documentary on the pop star will be more layered and interesting. Lisa also commented regarding the documentary saying, “This has been such an incredible year, and I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to capture these special moments on film and share the experience with my fans”, reports Billboard.
The ‘Lalisa’ singer who now has also ventured into acting with the HBO series ‘The White Lotus’ said, “Working with Sue Kim has been such a joy. We’ve been all around the world together and I know this is just the beginning of many more exciting things to come.”
The event on Thursday also had clips of the upcoming documentaries and films shown and for Sue Kim’s documentary shows clips of Lisa’s debut solo performance at Coachella and her memories and sharing from her home in Thailand.
