UAE President Visits Seat Of The French National Assembly In Paris

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the seat of the French National Assembly, the Palais Bourbon, in Paris on the second day of the UAE President’s visit to France.

Sheikh Mohamed was received by Yaël Braun-Pivet, the President of the French National Assembly, and many other officials.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohamed discussed common areas of interest between the two countries. He reportedly wants to continue the collaborative relationship between both countries that developed through several decades of partnership through shared values of peaceful coexistence and intercultural dialogues.

Sheikh Mohamed also signed the Palais Bourbon visitors log. He wrote, “I was pleased to visit the French National Assembly. We emphasise the importance of parliamentary relations as an important pillar of our close ties.”

Sheikh Mohamed arrived in Paris, the capital of France, on Sunday, his first overseas state visit since taking over from his half-brother in May. He met French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday at the Elysee Palace, the official residence of the President of the French Republic. Macron awarded His Highness the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, the highest French order of merit.

During the meeting, the UAE and France explored partnerships and collaborations in several areas, including energy, sustainability, advanced technology, education, and culture. Sheikh Mohamed also “reiterated the common interest that both countries share in approaching climate change.”

The UAE-France relations

Relations and trade deals between the UAE and France have grown significantly in recent years. Last year, the UAE and France signed multiple agreements in various fields, including economic, cultural, military, energy, education and environmental fields. The UAE is also home to the largest French and Francophone expatriate community in the Middle East region.
