UAE Leads Gaza Aid Contributions with $828 Million Support: OCHA Report

Over the years, the UAE has continuously provided essential relief to the nations in need. We have noted UAE’s quick aid for the Libya flood, aid in the Gaza, UAE’s assistance to Lebanon, support to Ukraine, and aids to Sudan —the list os aids and help is too large, according to a data “The UAE has donated over $98 billion to support other nations since it came into being in 1971. Why are we recalling the aids by the UAE? 

Recently according to the Financial Tracking Service of the United Nations OCHA shared a update where they said the United Arab Emirates is the largest contributor to humanitarian aid for Gaza accounting for 42% of total assistance between October 2023 and November 2024. According to the data UAE sent  $828 millions aid to Gaza. This is reflecting commitment of UAE to help in critical time.

Food Security Support

In 2024 UAE allocated over $111 million to fulfill the food needs of Gaza. UAE Initiated many operations like the “Tarahum – for Gaza” campaign provided food parcels, shelter materials, and medical supplies. UAE started this operations in October 2023. According to the official website of Foreign Ministry website of UAE over  20,000 relief packages delivered to the Gaza.
Thousands of tonnes of aid were delivered through air and sea, addressing immediate nutritional needs and ensuring sustained food availability for the affected population.

Strengthening Healthcare

The UAE contributed $18 million to health sector, funding medical facilities, medicines, equipment, and ambulances in Gaza. UAE parnershiped with WHO to boost the aid in GAZA. 

UAE supported healthcare in Gaza through multiple initiatives. The medical aids includes like setting field hospitals in Gaza. According to the regional source UAE inaugurated a 200-bed field hospital in Gaza in Dec 2023. While in continuing efforts UAE also set up the Maritime Hospitals in February 2024 as part of “Gallant Knight 3” operations.

Emergency Relief Efforts

A substantial $94 million was directed towards emergency relief. This funding supported large-scale shipments of food, winter clothing, and medical supplies. The efforts by the gulf nation focused on providing immediate shelter and nutrition for displaced families.

Logistics Excellence

 $24 million funds by UAE is provided to fulfill the logistics needs. This amount helped the mission by quick and on time aids delivery to Gaza. This amounts includs all costs like shipping, funding humanitarian flights, and supporting logistics for Emirates Red Crescent and other organizations. According to the official sources over 80 flights and maritime resources used in operations to carry out the aids.

The UAE has shown strong leadership in helping Gaza by providing aid in many areas. Their support is helping reduce suffering and build hope for the future during this tough time.
