UAE’s Humanitarian Power: Dh370 Billion in Global Aid Strengthens a Legacy of Compassion

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has consolidated itself as an example of the world in the field of humanitarian leadership, giving more than one billion people worldwide upwards in the form of aid worth more than Dh370 billion. This is such an impressive number which Reem Al Hashimi, the Minister of State of International Cooperation, announced at the Emirates International Press Conference, emphasising the philosophy of generous nature and solidarity of the UAE. Courtesy of the mindset of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continued by his son, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE humanitarian policy is cross-border, fusing compassion and obligation to seek world stability and hope.

Extending Compassion Across Continents

The humanitarian programs of the UAE are much more than just figures, a vision of humanitarian action with empathy in its core. The UAE has been the savior to war, famine and disaster-affected communities through its operation of more than 40 charitable bodies in 80 countries. Its support work involves sending 100,000 tonnes of relief aid to Gaza, evacuation of healthcare, and leading the successful anti-polio campaign in Pakistan. The peaceful and respected foreign policy of the country in brokering crises, starting as Ukraine, then Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan, and so on, highlights the fact that the country is a reliable global peacekeeper and well-wisher of resilience.

Building a Global Humanitarian Hub

The success of humanitarian activities in the UAE is rooted in an excellent infrastructure that facilitates quick and massive reaction. Dubai, with over 80 international organizations, is the most effective logistics hub in the world in humanitarianism. It came in handy during the COVID-19 pandemic when it coordinated international medical and relief activities. This capacity is further promoted by the creation of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council that guarantees smooth coordination with other partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO). By these efforts, UAE has been pushing on its vision of unity, dignity and cooperation- a testament that humanity has no boundaries.
