Top Hiking Trails across Europe

Nowadays travel means jumping on a jet and heading to destinations like New York, London, or Singapore. This not only creates jetlag for passengers and increases the cost of travelling but also takes a toll on the environment. Therefore to experience a good travelling holiday one needs to be connected to nature.Hiking, Mountaineering and Sailing are the best options for outdoor enthusiasts who want to have a quiet, relaxed and close up with mother nature. This is not only for adventure travellers and seekers but for the general public.

Here are the 3 best hiking trails in Europe that have been mapped out over the years.

Hyssna Trail, Sweden:

This is a 2 day hike through the mountains of west Sweden stretching 40 kilometres (25 miles). It’s a circular route starting at Hyssna’s 12th century church that is accessible by bus from Gothenburg in under 40 minutes. The hikers travelling through this trail go through towering beech forests and have the option to take a dip in the Lilla Halston Lake that has a dedicated area for swimmers catering to this specific requirement. The route is well signposted so that hikers can match their steps with their compasses and maps and don’t go haywire all over the place. It even has a well marked camp site for hikers to go camping. For premium lovers, the Hyssna Forest Resort makes arrangements over prior booking to cater to services such as outdoor showers, vast picture windows, and other premium needs.

Karhunkierros Trail, Finland –

The Finnish lapland is a winter destination for trekkers and hikers. It houses the Karhunkierros Trail, a very well known hiking trail in the land. It is known for magical displays of auroras and the fascinating Sami Culture. The trail is 82 Kilometres long (51 miles) and gives hikers an experience of a lifetime. It’s best explored in Summer as that’s when the lights are bright and forest is less covered in snow. The hike starts from Hautajarvi village in Lapland’s Salla and ends at the Rukatunturi Fell in Kuusamo usually over the span of 4 days but it depends on the weather as it changes rapidly in these regions. One can even see wolf packs, lynx and trout in the wilderness and rivers of Oulanka National Park.

Slovenian Mountain Trail, Slovenia:

The slovenian mountain trail over the years has become one of the favourites for mountain lovers. This beautiful route comprising 616 kilometres (362 miles) overlooks the mountain ranges of Maribor all over to Ankaran, on the Adriatic coast. It usually takes around a month (28 days) to do the full trek and hiking but can be broken down to do comfortably and savour the beautiful landscape. It is a paradise for mountaineering lovers and landscape photographers. Those opting to do the full trek have to do with 23 mountains in order to complete it. There are also 49 different routes to choose from if someone wants to do the hiking partially and not cover the whole trail. This trail passes through Pohorje Hills and Julian Alps that mostly are a part of the Triglav National Park.

All these treks and hikes are advised to be taken during the Spring and Summer season. Happy exploring.
