Tate Brothers’ Travel Ban Lifted – What’s Next in Their Legal Battle?

A Romanian court has lifted the travel ban on controversial social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate. The court allowed them to travel to the United States but they are facing human trafficking charges in Romania.
Both are dual U.S.-British citizens, the Tate brothers gained notoriety online through their provocative views, particularly on masculinity and wealth. Andrew Tate, 38, a former kickboxer, has over 10 million followers on X, where he frequently shares his opinions. His younger brother, Tristan, 36, is also a former kickboxer.

They were arrested in Bucharest in 2022 alongside two Romanian women, accused of running a criminal group that engaged in human trafficking across Romania, the U.S., and Britain. Although they were indicted last year, their trial has yet to begin due to legal complications. A Romanian court ruled in December that multiple procedural errors by prosecutors prevented the case from proceeding, though the charges remain active.
Romania’s anti-organized crime agency (DIICOT) confirmed the travel restriction was lifted on Thursday.
