Rio Carnival 2026 (Feb 13-21) consists of 400+ free blocos (i.e., spontaneous street parties with live samba bands) and attracts millions of people. Blocos do not require any entry fee as opposed to ticketed Sambadrome parades; they only need costumes, water, and energy. Even the favorites, such as Cordão do Bola Preta (100K+ people attended), Monobloco (Centro takeover), and Simpatia É Quase Amor, are still available during the middle of the festival through Riotur app updates. Anticipate costumes, water guns, dancing 10 AM- 2 AM in Lapa, Copacabana, and Santa Teresa. Safety rule: follow the crowd, Uber. Indians have 10 years of visa-free access to Brazil up until 2026.
