kamala harris postpones speech at howard amid tight race says campaign co chair
As reported by Fox News, “Vice President Kamala Harris will not speak to supporters tonight from her alma mater in Washington, D.C., as previously planned.”
Harris campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond gave a short update to the crowd gathered early Wednesday at Howard University, announcing that Harris would speak to voters at the university later that day, though he didn’t specify a time.
Though the situation appeared challenging for Democrats at that hour, Cedric Richmond reminded those at Howard that there were “still votes to be counted.”
Richmond said, “We still have states that have not been called yet, We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken.”
According to Fox News, Before Richmond announced that Harris wouldn’t be speaking as initially planned. And videos surfaced online showing people at Howard University leaving the event. The shift came as the race seemed to lean in favor of the Republicans.
The Free Press Journal also cited the same.
