Ontario Cuts Starlink Contract, Bans U.S. Companies Amid Tariff Dispute

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced the cancellation of a $100 million contract with Starlink. They said the reason is the concerns over the incoming 25% tariffs imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump. The provincial government is also implementing a ban on American companies from securing provincial contracts in response to the escalating trade measures.

Ford called the move a necessary step to protect Ontario’s economy and businesses from rising costs due to the new tariffs. During a press conference, he said “We won’t stand by while unfair trade policies hurt Ontario workers and taxpayers.”
