Ex-Captain Rashid Latif Advocates Pakistan’s Cricket Independence from India

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has voiced strong opinions about cricket match between India and Pakistan. He said that Pakistan should stop playing against India in international tournaments.

Latif expressed his frustration after the decision of BCCI to not send the Indian team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Due to this decision there are now rumors that the entire tournament might be moved out of Pakistan.

Latif stated that if he had the authority, he would have stopped Pakistan from competing against India altogether. He believes that until political tensions between the two countries are resolved, the ICC should avoid awarding hosting rights for major events to both India and Pakistan. “If you don’t want to play in Pakistan, then don’t play with us at all,” Latif said.

Latif believes the BCCI’s refusal to play in Pakistan due to security concerns isn’t well-founded as the ICC’s security team recently reviewed Pakistan and deemed it safe.

He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s cricket future, saying, “For 12 years, we played without home matches; we’ll continue with or without India.”
