Elon Musk, the chief executive officer of Tesla Inc has pointed out the very relevant problem of the declining birth rates, especially in the developed countries and the future extinction of the Singapore culture. Musk’s worries also include other countries including Italy, Japan, France, and the like where the population is shrinking which causes serious problems to the economic health and cultural continuity. Like many past civilizations, the tech billionaire and father of 11 children stressed the need to have strategic approaches towards it because of this looming problem of population decline.
Singapore’s Total Fertility Rate has reduced to a record low of 0.97, which is a great demographic shift. Official statistics show that more women are likely to become childless or bear fewer children than before; the marital fertility rate among women aged 20-24 years has decreased. The resulting increase in the average age also testifies to the progressive transformation of family values and institutionalization of questions about the future population outlook.
Elon Musk’s comparative analysis is also used while stressing modern demographic issues and comparing them with such civilizations as ancient Rome and Greece. Government, immigrants, and citizens, he believes, cannot rely on immigration as a solution to population decline and should instead focus on childbearing. The technology entrepreneur and founder are highly emotive on the issue due to his convictions on the need to maintain high population growth and and family-friendly policies for cultural sustainability.
OECD members like Italy, Japan, and France are also in the same boat and the social factors causing low birth rates, are not restricted to. The trend is therefore explained by economic factors catalysed by the new economy, flexibility towards self employment, increased cost of living and societal factors on birth control. Such actions by Musk are intended to create controversy on social media and demand policy approaches to these critical issues.
