Starlink Now Operational in Gaza Hospitals Thanks to UAE and Israel

Elon Musk confirmed that Starlink’s satellite internet service is now active in Gaza hospitals.

The X CEO Musk announced the news through his social media platform X. While sharing this update he also thanked UAE and Israel. He said UAE and Israel had been made possible.

More than five months ago the Israeli government approved Starlink’s use in a hospital in Rafah. Rafah is a city in southern Gaza. Gaza has poor internet connectivity because there isn’t enough power and fuel to run provider centers. This makes it much harder for medical staff and rescue teams to do their work.

The foreign minister of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan also thanked Elon Musk for supporting UAE field hospitals in Gaza. He said, “where many medical facilities have been destroyed in over nine months of war.“

The internet facility in hospitals will solve many issues for the medical team, the high-speed internet will allow doctors to have real-time video calls for medical consultations that could save lives, the UAE foreign ministry said in February.

According to the data of local experts of Gaza the internet access declined by 80 to 90 percentage in their region and because of it the emergency services were facing heavy difficulties.

The launch of Starlink in Gaza shows how Elon Musk’s satellite business, part of SpaceX is gaining geopolitical power. Last year Musk met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem to get approval for Starlink’s use.
