The meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos started on January 20th, 2025. This high-profile global meeting will talk about various topics including trade, tariffs, artificial intelligence, and global leadership.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is a strong advocate for climate action. He addressed the concerns over climate change. However, the UN Secretary’s efforts faced challenges as the new President of the U.S. Donald Trump called for an increase in fossil fuel production, and he stepped out of the Paris Climate Accord.
Artificial intelligence and the future of artificial general intelligence (AGI) are important. During the Davos 2025 experts warned that unchecked AI could create difficult problems for humanity and the human future.
Recently after taking oath as 47th President of America Trump announced a project by Oracle, SoftBank, and OpenAI. Three top tech firms will create a new company, called Stargate, to grow artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. This will amount to $500 billion approx, CNN reported.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is addressing the forum. The address by Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim is also scheduled for today. He posted on his official social media platform that it will be broadcast live via Bernama’s Facebook, RTM, and Astro Awani at 9 pm. “Insya-Allah, I will discuss the priorities of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year and the important role of ASEAN in shaping the global economic landscape”.
He will discuss the new economic zone between Malaysia and Singapore which is expected to boost jobs and attract investors in the region.
