Ravindra Jadeja’s performance on Monday helped Chennai Super Kings win their 5th IPL championship, and Stephen Fleming complimented it.
When Gujarat Titans needed 13 runs to win in the final over, CSK only scored three runs off the first four balls. However, Jadeja hammered Mohit Sharma for a six and a four off the final two deliveries to figuratively steal the Cup away from Gujarat.
“They claim that there are no fairy tales in sports, but today’s was an excellent one. It has been a challenging 18 months for him since the captaincy and the injuries were challenging. It also required some time for him to return to the game, be reintegrated into the Test team, and then re-integrate back into CSK,” Fleming stated in his post-match news conference.
“He has a wonderful job with the ball, but because we are so potent, we sometimes deploy him lower in the lineup. However, something has to give. In order to bring him there, MS (Dhoni) was really helpful and aggressive, and today he paid back that faith,” according to Fleming.
“The six, I believe, in particular of the ball, which was quite near to being flawless, was defining, and then left-handed drive to the fine leg,” according to his analysis of Jadeja’s performance.
It was a fantastic way to end it. I am ecstatic for him beyond words. Although he is our star player and the No. 1 ranked player, there have been occasions when he has been frustrated. Today, however, he delivered.
