For quite some time, El Salvador wasn’t really at the top of my bucket list when it came to traveling. However, during my almost two-week stay in the country, I learned about a destination where my perception of the country was proven wrong completely. Thanks to its volcanoes, colonial architecture, beautiful beaches for surfing, and much more, these 10 destinations in El Salvador showed me a whole new country that should get far more attention from tourists.

During the last few years, El Salvador has been making a huge comeback due to improvements in security, infrastructure, and other important areas, attracting more and more visitors each year. Today, it is another world compared to the one that people might expect it to be, with its friendly locals, beautiful scenery, and true experiences ready to be discovered.

El Tunco is a town located in El Salvador, and it is known to be a favorite place for surfing in Central America. It is a perfect place for those who like to surf and also for those who want to have fun without spending too much money.

One of the best adventures that can be had outdoors in El Salvador is a hike up to the Santa Ana Volcano. Tourists who have had to go through hard efforts during the hike will definitely get to witness the wonderful views of a mesmerizing blue lake that is located inside the volcano.

There’s nothing quite like experiencing pristine beaches with ample space, empty shorelines, and incredible sunsets in El Cuco. The calm environment makes for a great way to end a trip in El Salvador.

I wasn’t blown away by anything but the landscapes, beaches, and attractions in this country; rather, it was the friendly local population. All along my tour of El Salvador, locals were always very enthusiastic and proud of how far their nation had come. If you’re looking for places that are authentic, inexpensive, and off the beaten path, then this is an ideal place to visit.
