Why is Greenland Trending? What is Trump Planning?

Greenland has captured global attention as it trends across news platforms due to a controversial move by President-elect Donald Trump. His renewed interest in acquiring the icy territory has sparked debates worldwide. After the press conference, where Trump showed his interest in Greenland the debates are going on social media platforms. 

President-elect Donald Trump again showed its stand on Greenland during press conference. When asked about using military or economic pressure, Trump simply stated, “No.” He doubled down on Greenland’s importance, saying, “We need Greenland for national security purposes. People don’t even know if Denmark has any legal right to it. But if they do, they should give it up.”

Idea to purchase Greenland is not new. Many times Trump highlighted that Greenland is important because it have perfect location and natural resources, including rare earth minerals. These are rare and important for modern technology.

Reports are indicating that Trump is choosing diplomatic and economic measures to gain influence in Greenland. The visit by Donald Trump Jr. to Greenland is also a part of it.

What is Stand of Greenland?

Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark. Nation is standing strong for it sovereignty. After Trump’s conference  Prime Minister of Greenland Múte Egede stated that Greenland is “not for sale”. King of Denmark Frederik has also dismissed the idea.

Today Greenland’s Leader Meets Danish King – PM Mute Egede to discuss independence calls and Trump’s push to acquire resource-rich Greenland. 

Global Reactions over the Growing Controvery of Greenland:

As Trump is clearing it intension to occupie Greenland, regional players are showing there disappointment over it. France issued a warning to the U.S., stating that any threat to the sovereignty of a European Union territory is unacceptable.
