Who is Beckett Rex? The former American Idol contestant

Making a name for himself! During season 21 of American Idol, Beckett Rex won over the judges and domestic fans, however he left the competition after reaching the Top 26.

The host of the popular ABC show, Ryan Seacrest, revealed that one of the competitors had left the competition on the Monday, April 17 episode. This participant was the most recent of several singers to leave the competition this season.

“Now recently, one of the top 26 decided to bow out of the competition so we turned to the judges’ first alternate and gave her the life-changing news,” Seacrest, 48, said as he introduced Paige Anne, who had previously been ousted from the competition earlier in the season, to the competition once again.

Rex came forward the next day and issued a statement about his strange exit from the show, despite the Live With Kelly and Ryan alumnus keeping it a secret on live.

Actor Malcolm McDowell and Kelley Kuhr, who also have boys named Finnian, 16, and Seamus, 14, are the parents of Rex. In addition to being the father of Charlie McDowell, a director, and Lily McDowell, an actress, the 79-year-old Caligula star is also the ex-husband of Mary Steenburgen. In contrast, Charlie is wed to the actress Lily Collins, whom he married in September 2021.

The “Wildfire” singer is not the only celebrity parent’s offspring to have participated in season 21 of American Idol before quitting. Earlier this month, Kaya Stewart, the daughter of Eurythmics singer Dave Stewart, abruptly ended her role in the show. After becoming ill just before her duet with fellow contender Fire Wilmore, Kaya, 23, said why she decided to withdraw from the competition.

She commented at the time, “I always want to give my best, and I’m not giving my best here. And I don’t believe doing that is a fair portrayal of either Fire or myself. She should not be expected to offer anything less than her all, in my opinion.”

Along with Rex and Kaya, Sarah Beth Liebe made the decision to withdraw from the competition in order to care for her three kids.
