US Announces $400 Million Military Aid Package for Ukraine Amidst Russian Aggression

On Friday, the US announced a $400 million military aid package for Ukraine. As per the latest updates, Kyiv is struggling to stop Russian troops on the northeast side of Kharkiv.

After passing supplemental funding in late April by Congress, US- this will be the third tranche of military aid for Ukraine to fight against Russia.

Before the announcement of this aid package, On Thursday Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was facing “a really difficult situation” in the east.

He also updated that the supply of U.S. weapons is on the way so Ukraine is ready to fight with Russia. He said, “We will be able to stop them.”

The new US military aid package includes high-mobility artillery rocket systems and rockets for Ukraine. and artillery, anti-aircraft and anti-tank munitions, Patriot and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile systems, Bradley, and mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles.

This assistance package will consist of patrol boats, trailers, demolition munitions, high-speed anti-radiation missiles, protective gear, spare parts, and other weapons and equipment.

Since the war between Russia and Ukraine began in February 2022, the US has provided approximately $50.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine.

Since the war began, Russia has tried to take advantage of Ukraine’s ammunition and manpower shortages. But the West and America are continuously supporting Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said Moscow has amassed large numbers of troops in the east as well as the north.

Although Ukraine hopes the US stands behind them, new weapons are on the way. United States officials did not provide further details on the details of the weapons. However, it is known that the US sent a variety of weapons to Ukraine and the US promised to send more weapons.

The new missiles which are coming from the US give Ukraine a strike range of up to 300 kilometers (190 miles) — nearly double that of the mid-range version of the weapon.
