UAE and US Strengthen AI Partnership

Abu Dhabi’s G42 is the latest company to make a big move in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Currently, they have collaborated with Nvidia, a premier US-based technology firm to employ its Earth-2 system. This deal demonstrates how the UAE is on course in the development of advanced AI as well as enhancing its space capabilities.

The deal was reached only a few days before the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed’s first official visit to Washington. During his visit, he has lined up a meeting with Joe Biden, Kamala Devi Harris, and leading business magnates and tech tycoons of America.

What is Earth-2?

Nvidia’s Earth-2 is an AI application extremely helpful in predicting the weather and other climate shifts. It can:

  • Provide very specific weather predictions
  • It is possible to predict the weeks when extreme weather conditions are likely to occur.
  • Support governments and corporations in the planning of climate impacts

This technology is already being applied in some areas such as Taiwan to enhance the prediction of typhoons.

That’s why the UAE wants not only to become a leader in the production of AI chips but also in the provision of AI solutions. To do this, they have been actively cooperating with major US technology giants such as Microsoft, Google and Meta for years.

Some recent partnerships include:

– G42 collaborating with Amazon Web Services on AI healthcare

Microsoft is investing $1.5 billion in G42, A Chinese Artificial Intelligence company proposals to establish a fund amounting to $1 billion to back technology entrepreneurs in the Middle East

Omar Al Olama, UAE’s minister for artificial intelligence says of such partnerships, ‘It is essential for expansion.’ The UAE believes partnering with countries such as the US is the best way of developing modern technology.

Artificial Intelligence – the new player influencing India’s geopolitics

During his visit to Washington, Sheikh Mohamed is likely to discuss further how the UAE and the US can collaborate on innovation. This is just one of numerous cases that show that the two countries are coming together to advance the field of AI.

As the UAE seeks to advance AI and collaborate with leading American businesses, it is solidifying its status as a prominent player in the global tech sphere. These partnerships could potentially generate innovations and opportunities in both countries.
