The UAE sends 32 tons of additional aid to Sudan

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent 32 tons of additional aid to Sudan in order to help the Sudanese people. The additional aid to Sudan will provide relief to 13,000 people in conflict-hit areas of Sudan.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE as well as the Ruler of Dubai, sent directives to the officials to help vulnerable people in Sudan. The aid was sent under the directives of the Ruler of Dubai in order to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. The number of beneficiaries is estimated to be about 27000 people in Sudan.

Recently, the UAE sent three aid planes to the war-torn country of Sudan to help vulnerable people in the country. The plane carried 115 tonnes of medical and food supplies for the Sudanese people. Two planes arrived at Port Sudan Airport, carrying urgent medical aid and emergency aid. The third plane arrived in Chad to help Sudanese refugees. It carried 15 tonnes of food supplies to help displaced people and the Sudanese refugees.

Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, dispatched the medical supplies under the directives of the UAE’s leadership.

The UAE was among the first countries to send urgent humanitarian aid to Sudan. So far, the UAE has sent over 240 tonnes of medical and food supplies to Sudan.

The UAE also evacuated 744 foreign nationals and diplomats and their families from Sudan.  A child wounded by a stray bullet in Sudan was treated at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. Since April 29, the UAE has evacuated the citizens of about 24 different countries on different planes.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation of the UAE conducted the evacuation process under the directives of the UAE’s leadership.
