redbull sacks christian horner after 20 years
The longest serving F1 Team principal, Christian Horner has been sacked by the Red Bull team effective immediately on Wednesday. The statement from the F1 pages or other sources have not disclosed any reasons behind the sacking.
Christian Horner, who has associated with the Red Bull F1 Team since 2005 has been going through a tumultuous time in the past year and the rumours of Red Bull sacking him has been surfacing before. While fans were aware about the possibility, it is breaking news for Christian Horner to be sacked after 20 years of association.
And immediately after the Sky Sports announcement, Horner has reportedly told Sky Sports F1’s Martin Brundle that “no reason was given to him” for him to issue a statement.
“We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years,” said Oliver Mintzlaff, the Red Bull Managing Director, who also added that, “With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula. Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history.”
Red Bull has achieved so much under Horner’s leadership with two dominant drivers making waves – Sebastian Vettel and the 4 Consecutive Constructor’s and Driver’s Championship from 2010 and his sprint with Max Verstappen, winning 4 Driver’s Championship from 2021- 2024.
He was also a part of successful moments like,
Horner has been involved in some turbulent accusations such as the inappropriate behaviour against a Female Employee last summer which was dismissed and Horner denied his involvement.
Laurent Mekeis has been appointed as the CEO of Red Bull Racing as per the official statement while the past year held witness to several other exits in Red Bull Racing including legendary designer Adrian Newey to Aston Martin and sporting director Jonathan Wheatley to Sauber.
