On Saturday Wildfires broke out in the afternoon in the Hamptons. Officials said that this wildfire was fueled by strong winds and dry conditions.
Four fires spread across a 3-mile by 1-mile area near Westhampton, closing part of Sunrise Highway and a nearby service road, according to Suffolk County officials.
The reason for this time of wildfire is still unknown, the investigation is going on!
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency in the region. The state National Guard is assisting with air support by helicopter and working with local law enforcement.
Firefighters are fighting with the flames and trying to control the situation. The government asked residents to stay alert and updated. Do not come out of homes without necessary reasons.
