Taeil had been removed from from the Korean Pop boy band NCT after allegations started pouring in about his involvement in sexual abuse and crimes as per a statement given today Wednesday 28th August 2024 by SM Entertainment.
The agency was quoted saying, “We have recently learned that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offence. As we were assessing the facts related to the matter, we recognised the severity of the situation and determined that he can no longer continue his activities with the team.”
SM Entertainment added that the decision was made after having discussions with Taeil who was “currently fully cooperating with the police investigation.” It promised to give leads and follow ups as the investigation progresses and apologised for the concern and distress that the news has created.
Taeil has been on a continuous break since a motorcycle accident resulting in a grave injury. Up until now, he was a part of the NCT Korean sub team NCT127 and rotational group NCT U.
This is not the first time that the boy band has been facing controversy. The earlier episode took place in 2023 when Lucas left the band after facing gaslighting and cheating charges.
