Michel: Lamine Yamal Can Reach Messi’s Level After Barcelona’s Win Over Girona

Michel, the coach of the Girona had some kind words for Barcelona’s young talent Lamine Yamal and believes he could as well turn out to be the next Lionel Messi. This bold statement was made after Barcelona had thrashed Girona 4-1 over the weekend with Yamal getting on the score sheet with two goals to his name.

Yamal continues to display great attitude and technique when playing for both Barcelona and Spain’s first team even though he is only 17 years old. He scored two goals and that enabled the Barcelona football club to lead the game with two goals to nil.

As you will recall, Michel had a lot of good things to say to Yamal after the match. He even told the teenager that he is as good as Messi who is arguably the greatest soccer player of all time.

As for his whole stay in Barcelona, he has been compared to Messi many times. Still, Yamal has been quite wily about such comparisons. He said this recently, and it would be impossible for anyone to be like Messi.

Yamal has taken a relatively short time to grow in soccer. At a tender age, he established himself as a regular player at Barcelona. This is because he has skills, speed, and scoring prowess which has attracted the attention of the fans and analysts.

The victory against Girona was very important for Barcelona. It assisted them to remain in contention for the Spanish league championship. A large portion of this triumph was due to Yamal’s performance.

As Yamal advances and develops many will be waiting to see if he will be able to meet all the expectations that are expected from him. In as much as it is a big compliment to compare any young player to Messi, it also shifts a lot of expectations on Yamal.
