Meet Asencio: Ancelotti’s Pick for Real Madrid’s Defense

Last updated on November 11th, 2024 at 04:35 am

As key players of Real Madrid are out of station, such as David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Thibaut Courtois, and Aurélien Tchouaméni so there was a shortage of defenders in the team. During this time Real Madrid has promoted 21-year-old center-back Raúl Asencio from their Castilla team to the first team squad for an upcoming official match.

Asencio has been a standout for Castilla playing every minute of their first 11 games this season and proving himself as a reliable high-performing player under coach Raúl González Blanco.

Having regularly trained with Carlo Ancelotti’s first team especially since Tchouaméni’s recent injury Asencio is known for his strong consistency and leadership. Several clubs, including Girona, showed interest in him over the summer, but Real Madrid opted to keep him, seeing his potential as a valuable defensive asset.
