Massive Fire in Studio City Home, Forces Evacuation Warnings
Fire broke out at a four-storey residence in Studio City on Wednesday night and burnt out completely, threatening nearby buildings and attracting a hurry-up call from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The blaze, which began at 8:52 PM local time at 3000 North Sunswept Drive, rapidly extended towards some adjacent hillside residences and shrubs.
According to KTLA, LAFD spokesperson Adam Vangerpen said that winds were rising, leading to ember casting from the burning structure adding pressure to firefighters. “We are doing our best to prevent it being taken to the shrubs at the moment,” Vangerpen said as efforts to manage the situation stated to escalate. According to the LAFD, this event, Fire in Studio City, was distinct from another fire that was continuing to burn in the Hollywood Hills area.
Residents photographed the house’s collapse and posted videos on social media platforms when responders fought the fire. The LAFD urged neighbors to evacuate as they did not want to leave anything to chance in terms of the fire extending further up the hillside due to the winds.
