London Taxi Driver Reunites Passenger with Lost £700 Jewellery

A London taxi driver went above and beyond to return a passenger’s lost jewelry, showcasing the dedication some cabbies have to their customers.

On 30 August, Paul Ludlow, a taxi driver for 12 years, picked up a woman and her elderly mother from Selfridges and dropped them near Harrods. After they left the cab, Paul noticed a bag on the back seat. Inside, he found jewelry and a belt, along with a receipt totaling over £700.

Determined to return the items, Paul first contacted Selfridges customer service but wasn’t comfortable leaving such valuable items in lost property. So, he took matters into his own hands and went back to the jewelry counter at Selfridges, where the items were bought.

Luckily, the sales assistant, Layla, remembered the customer. She managed to track down the transaction and contact the woman, who had already returned to her home abroad. The customer, who thought the jewelry was lost forever, was thrilled to hear from Paul and deeply grateful for his efforts.

Paul’s actions earned praise from Suzanne Sullivan, an airport representative for the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association. She said in TAXI Newspaper, “Paul Ludlow is a shining example of London’s finest. Perhaps there should be awards for such kindness.”

Paul simply said that returning lost items makes him feel good, as the joy of the customer is priceless.
