India’s Ace batter Veda Krishnamurthy announces retirement from all formats

Veda Krishnamurthy, veteran Indian cricketer who played a crucial role in the ODI and T20 formats has announced her retirement from all the formats. Taking the announcement to her social media, the cricketer now rests her decision to retire from International Cricket

“A small-town girl with big dreams. That’s how it all started in Kadur,” Veda retirement note on social media read. “I picked up a bat not knowing where it would take me. But I knew I loved the game. I never imagined it would take me this far from narrow streets to the biggest stadiums, from quiet hopes to proudly wearing the Indian jersey. Cricket gave me so much more than just a career. It gave me a sense of who I am.

“It taught me how to fight, how to fall and how to keep showing up. Today, with a full heart, I’m calling time on this chapter.”

The aggressive and dynamic middle order batter, Veda Krishnamurthy played 48 ODI matches for India and 76 T20Is. She was a part of the 2020 T20 World Cup final at the MCG while she played her last ODI match two years before the summit in 2018. Veda bids adieu with 829 runs and three wickets in the 50-overs format, and 875 runs in the shortest format.

She was also a part of the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup when the team played the final at the Lord’s, considered a prosperous time for India Women’s Cricket.
