India: Government to launch special Rs 75 coin to mark new Parliament inauguration
The Ministry of Finance will be launching a special Rs 75 coin to mark the inauguration of the new and grandiose Parliament building on Sunday.
Here is everything you should know about the new entity.
The new Rs 75 coin will bear an image of the new structure and the inscription ‘Parliament Complex’.
The 35-gram coin will be circular in shape with a radius of 88 millimeters. It will have 200 serrations along the edges, giving a unique touch to its design.
A four-part alloy composition will be used to craft it, with 5% zinc, 5% nickel, 40% copper, and 50% silver.
The coin will feature the following on its obverse side:
Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar, with the inscription ‘Satyamev Jayate’ below it
‘Bharat’ in Devanagari script on the left side and ‘India’ on the right in English
Space below Lion Capital featuring rupee symbol and denomination value of 75 in international numerals
The coin’s reverse side will feature the following:
Image of the Parliament complex
‘Sansad Sankul’ on the upper periphery in Devanagari script and ‘Parliament Complex’ on the lower periphery in English
Guidelines specified in the First Schedule of the Constitution have been followed while designing the special coin.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be seen inaugurating the new and grand structure on May 28. While over 25 parties are expected to attend the opening ceremony, more than 20 others have expressed their opposition to the same.
