Heatwave 2024, Shatters Records Across the US

Forecasters said about 130 million people were at risk of a heat wave next week. The heat wave has already broken records in the US with dangerously high temperatures from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Jacob Asherman the National Weather Service meteorologist said the intense heat and humidity could push temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (about 38 degrees Celsius). The Pacific Northwest, Mid-Atlantic, and parts of the Northeast can be under the heat for this week.

Asherman said cities including Eugene, Portland, and Salem will also be impacted by the heatwaves.

The warning for extensive heat is extended till Friday. National Weather Service confirmed the information.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, “A dangerous and historic heatwave is just getting started across the area, with temperatures expected to peak during the Sunday-Wednesday timeframe.”

After the heat waves alert, Marco Boscovich said the best way to escape the heat was to put a slot machine with a cold beer inside an A.C. casino.

Heat is breaking records in the southwest

The temperature rose to 36.6 C in Phoenix yesterday. Meteorologists predict temperatures across the region will remain high till the coming week, with low desert temperatures reaching 115 to 120 degrees (46.1 to 48.8 C).

California’s Death Valley is one of the hottest places on Earth. The place broke its own heat record on Friday with temperatures soaring to 127°F (52.8°C). The previous record of 122°F (50°C) was last matched in 2013.

Palm Springs also felt the heat reaching a scorching 124°F (51.1°C) and surpassing its all-time high of 123°F (50.5°C).

And it’s not over yet. More extreme temperatures are expected with forecasts predicting 129°F (53.8°C) at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park on Sunday, and temperatures around 130°F (54.4°C) through Wednesday.

The hottest temperature ever officially recorded on Earth was 134°F (56.67°C) in Death Valley back in July 1913, though some experts dispute this and believe the true record is 130°F (54.4°C), also recorded in Death Valley, in July 2021.

The Worst is yet to come- Said the National Weather Service

The west will face the worst temperatures over the next week, with temperatures in the triple digits between 15 and 30 degrees (8 and 16 degrees Celsius) above average. Baltimore and another eastern part will also face the heat in the coming week.

The heat death troll continues in America!

In Arizona the confirmed death toll is 13, the reason is heatwave. The suspected toll is 160.
