Miss USA 2024: Celebrating Inclusivity with Miss Maryland and Miss Alabama

This year Miss USA pageant, the Miss Universe organization is making history with its winners. This week Bailey Anne Kennedy is a transgender woman who won the state title for the first time Miss Maryland.

And the Miss Alabama is titled for Sarah Milliken. She has attracted attention due to her large size, after she received the title she is trending all over the internet.

Sarah Milliken is the newly crowned Miss Alabama has faced many bullying because to her size. Her size was something that sets her apart different from the typical beauty pageant contestants. But after winning the title she not only got attention but also proudly holds her title and continues to represent Alabama with confidence.

Bailey Anne Kennedy, the new Miss Maryland USA, is a 31-year-old transgender woman who identifies as a “military wife.” She competed as Miss Williamsport (Md), USA, making history as the first transgender male to win the title.

Starting in 2023, the Miss Universe pageant has opened its doors wider and allowed women who are or have been married, pregnant or have children, to compete in this beauty competition. Contestants must still identify as female both medically and legally in the United States.

In a groundbreaking moment for the pageant world, Ángela Ponce from Spain became the first transgender contestant in Miss Universe history in 2018. The pageant itself is owned by a transgender entrepreneur from Thailand, who purchased it in 2022.

In other news, Brenna Schaake from Fairbanks was crowned Miss Alaska USA 2024 on June 1. She will represent Alaska at the Miss USA 2024 pageant in Hollywood, California, during the week of August 4. Brenna works as an external affairs supervisor for Kinross Gold Corporation and is a member of the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce.
