Fashion Designer Tina Knowles 'Sick And Tired Of People Attacking' Daughter Beyoncé
On November 25, the global pop star attended the opening of Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé on the “chrome carpet” in an all-silver outfit with platinum blonde hair, drawing criticism from some netizens who accused her of lightning her skin and hair to appear “more white”.
Fashion Designer Tina Knowles has defended her daughter in a lengthy Instagram caption, slamming such criticism as perpetuating sexism, racism, jealousy and double standards. She noted that the theme of the premiere was silver, with guests asked to dress accordingly.
“Came across this today and decided to post it after seeing all of the stupid, ignorant self, hating racist statements about her, lightning her skin, and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white,” Knowles highlighted at the top of her social media post.
Her post included a video of the premiere and photos with quotes of online comments such as “she whitens her skin!” and “she’s white now?” “How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy,” she continued.
As of November 30, Knowles’ post on Instagram has received more than 282,900 likes. One user commented “carry on as a Mother should (clapping hands emoji)”, another said “Educate Them they always try to break The Black Woman especially one they feel intimidated by.”
Tina Knowles also expressed ire for a white female reporter who she says reached out to Beyoncé’s hair stylist for a statement about how “the fans are saying that she wants to be white.” “Well that made, my blood boil,” she added.
Additionally, Knowles also expressed disappointment in some Black netizens who have contributed to the criticism. Concluding, she noted “I’m sick of you losers,” highlighting Beyoncé as someone who “minds her own business” and “helps people whenever she can.”
Like Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film before it, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé captures the pop star’s blockbuster international tour. It will premiere nationwide beginning on December 1, now tracking to open to between $30 million and $40 million globally.
