Donald Trump Safe After Assassination Attempt: FBI Identifies Shooter

Former US President Donald Trump rushed and reached backstage after the shots. In the Saturday evening gunshots were fired at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In a social media post, Trump said, that when a bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear he got injured.

According to the Secret Service Trump is now safe. Donald Trump Jr. told CBS News’ Robert Costa that his father is “doing fine.”

After the shooting incident, international responses started coming out. French President Macron tweeted from his official X handle about the incident.  

Ukrainian President Zelensky also sent get well soon message to Donald Trump and condemned the incident.

Israeli President Netanyahu also shared a post where he said, he is praying for Trump’s safety.

Apart from these few posts World leaders and politicians from the United States condemned the shooting, while some industry executives, including Tesla chief Elon Musk, declared their support for Trump.

President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris also shared their thoughts with Donald Trump and condemned the incident.

This shooting incident happened when less than four months were remaining for the election. This assassination attempt against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump could have far-reaching impacts.

This could boost Trump’s candidacy against President Joe Biden in some ways but increase turmoil in others.

Biden is already facing calls to step down after a disappointing debate performance against Trump in June at a CNN debate.

The FBI has identified the shooter who was involved in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

According to a statement from the US Secret Service the shooter “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally” before being “neutralized” by agents.

Trump was quickly escorted off the stage, visibly shaken, with blood streaked across his face after the shooting in Butler.

Key Details About the Shooter:

1. Voter registration records indicate that the shooter Crooks was registered as a Republican.

2. Crook was a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022 and was a recipient of a $500 “star award” from the National Math and Science Initiative.

3. He was armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. Multiple witnesses reported seeing him before the shooting and alerted authorities.

4. The shooter was positioned on the roof of a building approximately 130 yards away from the stage where Trump was speaking.

Secret Service officials shot and killed Crooks following the attack. The motive behind his actions remains unclear, according to police.
