Delta Flight Turbulence Injures 25 Passengers on Amsterdam Route

On Wednesday, a Delta Airlines flight was under fierce turbulence, which resulted in 25 of the passengers getting injured after the plane was directed to make an emergency landing in Minnesota. The aircraft that experienced the flight turbulence was the DL56 that was departing Salt Lake City bound for Amsterdam.

The Airbus A330-900 plane was in its flight period of approximately 90 minutes when suddenly it fell into hazardous gusts. Due to the unexpected turbulence, it posed serious inconveniences inside the cabin, including serious cases to flight attendants who were attending to passengers at the time.

One passenger who observed the incident of turbulence articulated that the aircraft plunged suddenly. This made the flight attendants and their serving cart fly up and hit the ceiling of the airplane. That passenger recalled how she witnessed crew members being tossed through the air as a result of tough turbulence.

All of them flew to the ceiling, and the beverage carts did the same, too”, said a passenger. “The Airbus is a disaster as it is filled up with liquids and service items.” The turbulence during the flight was so high that it caused all loose items in the cabin to fly around, causing the whole place to get into a state of confusion.

Emergency Landing After Turbulence Incident

The pilots promptly determined to re-route the flight on the basis of the turbulence emergency. The aircraft landed safely in the evening in Minneapolis (local time 8 p.m.). The airport had emergency responders waiting to assist the injured passengers and the injured crew members. The 25 individuals injured in the turbulence accident were treated in local hospitals. On Thursday, Delta Airlines said that all passengers and crew who were taken to the hospital have been discharged. The airline has been collaborating with safety investigators to determine the cause of the intense turbulence. To enable the passengers to accomplish their travel plans, Delta organized a special replacement flight on Thursday, from Minneapolis to Amsterdam. They are also giving passengers the option to stay in hotels due to the turbulence emergency.
