China and UAE: 40 Years of Friendship, Promises Future Growth

The Chinese Premier Li Qiang and the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met on Thursday in Dubai to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE. The leaders have identified the directions for enhancing the cooperation and further development of the partnership.

Li also underlined China’s traditional perception of the UAE as an important player in its Middle Eastern policy. He reiterated the willingness of China to enhance cooperation with the UAE, reciprocate and bolster the existing political relations. The purpose is to revive their relationship and to give the people in both nations even better outcomes than before.

The Chinese Premier went further to illustrate how China and the UAE are the best partners in the quest of realising mutual development. He said that the enhanced cooperation benefits the vital concerns of both countries. Li proposed several areas for expanded collaboration: Li proposed several areas for expanded collaboration:

1. The second way is increasing the scale of economic and trade cooperation

2. Enhancing infrastructure projects

3. Developing new energy sources

4. Advancing the digital economy

5. Promoting green economic initiatives

These efforts are meant to enhance sustainable development in the two countries as stated below. Li also encouraged more investment from the UAE to China and Chinese firms to look for more business partners and opportunities in the UAE.

HH Sheikh Mohammed has congratulated China on its upcoming 75th founding anniversary and also commended the country’s impressive development. He pointed out that UAE-China relations have improved a lot under the leadership of their leaders. The UAE leader repledged his country’s firm support to the policy of one China.

Looking to the future, HH Sheikh Mohammed outlined the UAE’s plans to:

1. Leverage its unique advantages

2. Boost trade with China

3. Further enhance the coordination in investment and energy

4. Strengthen educational partnerships

5. Enhance people-to-people exchanges

Each of them stressed that the given activities would contribute to the further enhancement of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UAE.

This coming out clearly in the meeting showed the respect and understanding of each other’s growth that defines the China – UAE relationship. As both nations navigate global challenges, their partnership offers a model for international cooperation based on mutual benefit and common development goals.
