Celtics Beats Mavericks For Record-Setting 18th Championship In NBA Finals

The National Basketball Association is a professional basketball league in North America. In the NBA there are 30 teams, 1 in Canada and 29 in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports leagues in both Canada and America and is considered the best premier professional basketball league around the globe. This year’s NBA finals were played between the Celtics and Mavericks in TD Garden Arena, where the Celtics defeated the Mavericks and marked Boston’s 18th championship.

Celtics beat Mavericks in NBA 2024 Finals

The Celtics again established themselves as the NBA Champions. On Monday at the TD Garden Arena, Bost defeated the Dallas Mavericks, winning the 2024 NBA title in five games. This record-setting win for Boston marked the team’s 18th championship, breaking the tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most in NBA league history.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 31 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds. 21 points and 8 rebounds were added by Jaylen Brown, who was named the Finals MVP.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said of Brown that “Bill Russell would be so proud” before handing him the trophy named after the late Celtics legend.

Luka Doncic, with 28 points and 12 rebounds, led the Mavericks in defeat.

After the win, Tatum said of his teammates, “We very well knew we needed each other. It’s a team sport, and our team went through ups and downs. We deserve this. We earned this.”

Boston claimed the trophy with one of the most powerful offences.

Boston marked its win and claimed the Larry O’Brein trophy with one of the most strong offences in NBA history.With an offensive rating of 122.2, they topped the NBA and finished the regular season with the league’s best record of 64-18. The team ranked second in points per game (120.6), rebounds per game (46.3), and 3 pointers per game (16.5).

After averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game this season, Tatum earned all NBA first team honours. Jaylen Brown also contributed with 5.5 rebounds and 23 points. Boston also displayed strong defence, holding opponents to a rating of 110.6, which is at the second position in the league, and leading in blocked shots with 6.6 per game.

Since 2008, this victory marks the first championship of Boston when the team defeated the Lakers in six games.Before winning the most in NBA history, Al Horford, the Celtics big man, played in 186 postseason games. After winning the NBA final, he said the wait was worth it. He said, “It’s been long. A lot of hard work, but I am very proud to be a part of this team. I can’t believe it. But we did it.”
