Brazil has signed an agreement with SpaceSail. SpaceSail is a Chinese satellite internet provider that competes with Starlink, it is a company of Elon Musk. SpaceSail currently has 40 satellites in orbit and plans to launch 648 more within 14 months. By 2030 the company aims to operate a massive network of 15,000 satellites.
Communications Minister of Brazil, Juscelino Filho shared the news saying, “We are entering into this agreement so they can offer this service as soon as possible, provided they follow all laws and regulations.”
In an initial agreement SpaceSail has teamed up with Telebras Brazil’s state-owned telecom company. This deal will allow SpaceSail to use Telebras’ infrastructure such as data centers and fiber-optic networks.
Frederico Siqueira Filho the Telebras President said , “We signed a memorandum of understanding to begin negotiations. We are offering our infrastructure to see if it makes sense for them to operate in Brazil.”
This partnership between these gaints could expand internet access across Brazil. This step will improve connectivity new technology.
