Four missing climbers were tragically found dead near Mont Blanc’s summit French authorities have confirmed. Two Italians and two South Koreans, went missing over the weekend during severe weather conditions.
Rescue teams from Chamonix-Mont Blanc discovered their bodies at an altitude of more than 15,400 feet, on the highest peak in the Alps. The climbers had called for help on Saturday afternoon, but worsening weather made it impossible for rescuers to reach them in time.
According to officials, the climbers succumbed to hypothermia. An investigation has been opened into the incident. Meanwhile, two other South Korean climbers were successfully rescued at a lower altitude of 13,400 feet on Sunday morning, thanks to a complex rescue operation.
