Ben Stokes Breaks Brendon McCullum’s World Record In Test Cricket

Ben Stokes, an English international cricketer, broke the world record of New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum to become the leading six-hitter in the red-ball format.

On Saturday, he made history by becoming the player with the most sixes in Test cricket. This happened during the first Test match between the England team and the New Zealand team at Mount Maunganui.

During day 3 of the ongoing England Vs New Zealand first Test, Stokes came to bat in the second innings. The famous player scored 31 runs in 33 balls, consisting of three fours and two sixes. Later on, Stokes was dismissed by all-rounder Michael Bracewell.

England and New Zealand began their two-test match series on 16 February in Mount Maunganui. New Zealand won the toss and opted for bowling.

Ben Stokes has hit 109 sixes and a total of 5,652 runs in 90 Test matches. His best score in the test format of cricket is 258. McCullum, the successful cricket coach, commentator and former cricketer representing New Zealand, has 107 sixes in 101 Tests.

The record for the top five most sixes in test cricket is rounded out by Chris Gayle, Adam Gilchrist, and Jacques Kallis, who each have 100, 98, and 97 sixes.

England has won nine of its last ten test matches. The team is currently ranked fifth in the standings with 124 points.
