Welcome to Evia, one of Greece’s most beautiful islands, full of great beaches. If you love the sea and the sun, then you have chosen the right place to be. There are too many great places to swim and relax in Evia, to the point of not knowing which ones to choose. But do not be concerned; we picked out five of the very best beaches for you to go to. Whether you are a fan of calm waters, beautiful views, or beach fun, Evia offers everything for everyone. So let us dive into exploring these wonderful beaches together!
Chiliadou is a unique beach in central Evia. The beach is comprised of sand, with several layouts where rocks have different sizes. It is facing north and, for this reason, is often quite windy.
Fun fact: Part of Chiliadou is a nudist beach! It is separated from the regular beach by a big rock, and a “nudism” sign is put there.
Best time to visit: In summer, it has fine weather and you can swim.
Local tip: For families visiting, stay on the main part of the beach before the big rock.
Dafni Beach is a nice location with small rocks and very transparent water. You can see a big mountain called Kantili right above the beach. There are two beaches in Dafni. The first has a beach bar and restaurant. The second is smaller and surrounded by green trees.
Best time to visit: That would be during late spring to early fall, from May to October, when the weather is pleasant.
Local tip: Bring a mask to snorkel with! The water’s so clear, and a lot of cool rocks and fish to see underwater.
Limnionas has dark brown sand which becomes scorching in the summer months. The temperature is considerable, so be prepared to feel it literally when walking with bare feet. The water here is very deep – right after a few steps, you can’t touch the bottom.
Best time to visit: Early morning or late afternoon of a summer day to prevent burning sand.
Local tip: Bring shoes in the water or other kinds of sandals that might save your feet from the hot sand and some rocky areas in the water.
Kalamos is two beaches together. Locals do refer to one side as the “good” beach, relating to it being calm and perfect for swimming, and the other as the “bad,” which has wilder waves.
The view from above Kalamos is amazing; you will feel like you are gazing at a lot of blue sweeping down to meet the sky with the sea.
Best time to visit: Summer for swimming, spring/fall for less crowded beach walks.
Local tip: Climb up to the viewpoint above the beach for stunning photos.
Lichadonissia isn’t just one beach, but a group of small islands with beautiful beaches. It is called the “Seychelles of Greece” because of its beauty. The sand is golden, and the water is this gorgeous blue-green color. The water stays shallow for a long time, making it great for families with kids.
Best time to visit: June to September has the best weather and boat trips to the islands.
Local tip: If you want to secure fine spots on the beach during weekends, come early in the morning, as large queues line up.
