The Duke of Cambridge Prince William’s reputation and popularity has gone up on the global scale. According to a new Gallup poll, the British royal has emerged as the strongest candidate to serve the United States- unifying role.
Prince Williams’ 59 percent favorable rating from Americans is the highest of 15 prominent figures, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, King Charles III and US President Joe Biden, among others. Gallup says Biden and his possible opponent in the 2024 election, former President Donald Trump, are tied at 41 percent favorability, while majorities view the president (57 percent) and Trump (55 percent) unfavorable.
The report says US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Vice President Kamala Harris, and several key members of Congress – the Biden administration and the Republican primary field – are seen as favorable by 31 percent to 39 percent of Americans. However, their unfavorable ratings vary because of the proportion who have never heard of or otherwise can’t rate each person.
Coming back to Prince William, his rating has soured despite the revelations made by brother, Prince Harry in the book Spare. Gallup said William is viewed as favorable by 69 percent American women than men. This could be attributed back to the greater sadness women felt over the death of his mother Princess Diana in 1997; her memories explain old Americans’ greater affinity for Prince William.
Moreover, he has been hitting headlines due to family rift, mainly with Prince Harry and also because of his charitable work. There are also reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex want to normalize relations with Prince William. Harry and wife Meghan Markle are looking for an apartment at Kensington Palace to make amends with the royal family.
