Warning issued for Buying washing-up liquid in the UK. This is the reason.

We are in a world where climate change, and pollution, are blazing questions. Nations around the world are taking part in the debates of reducing pollution, they are looking for different ways to reduce pollution. Recently the UK has secured headlines with a new initiative to reduce plastic pollution.

Reduce Waste, Refill Instead: UK’s Call to Cut Plastic Pollution

Shoppers in the UK are being encouraged to rethink how they buy washing-up liquid. Instead of buying new plastic bottles every time, consumers are being urged to switch to refill options.

According to recent data released by sources, and news sources like The Express, in the UK millions of plastic bottles are used each year, but shockingly only less than half of these are collected for recycling. Reports also indicate that only 7% of the collected bottles are recycled to make new bottles. Experts are asking consumers to switch to refill options as a simple yet powerful way to reduce plastic pollution and protect the planet.

Ecover Leads the Way

Ecover a well-known Eco-friendly brand is taking the lead in this campaign. They are asking consumers to refill bottles instead of discarding them.  According to the statement by the company, “Why melt a bottle to make a bottle, when you’ve already got a bottle? It’s a simple switch that can make a big difference.”

Ecover has over 700 refill stations across the UK. They are available in health food stores, zero-waste shops, and even larger supermarkets. Shoppers can locate their nearest refill station on the website of Ecover.

Big Brands Join the Effort

Though in the UK several other brands like Ecover are advocating a safer planet, one of them is Fairy. Fairy is also offering refill solutions for plastic water bottles. For example, Fairy’s refill cartons, available for £4.50 at Ocado, allow customers to refill their bottles more than twice, saving up to 85% of plastic.

A product description highlights the benefits: “Fairy Max Power refill cartons are recyclable and help you save plastic while delivering the same powerful cleaning experience.”

This small step by UK shoppers and buyers can have a big impact on reducing the 12.7 million tonnes of plastic bottles that end up in the ocean annually. Shoppers are encouraged to take part in this initiative and play a role in protecting the environment.
