US Open 2025 – August 25 Lineup: Stars Set for Day 2 Action

The US Open 2025 Tennis Championships will be back in New York, featuring a line-up of celebrated players and some historic firsts. This will be the culmination of two weeks of tennis superstars, up-and-coming stars, and emotional retirements. One of the most significant ones is the start of Venus Williams‘ keying her game in the 25th town as a singles player at Flushing Meadows, but overall, there would be wins and losses among the champions of today, as well as those that are just setting out their stalls. The marquee match-ups, fan week parties, popular combinations such as “Raducaraz” and “Sincaraz”, and exciting singers, doubles, and mixed games, make the tournament sure to produce a memorable event in the stadiums and globally.

Opening Night: Venus Williams and Carlos Alcaraz Take Center Stage

Arthur Ashe Stadium will see many sets of eyes focused on Monday, August 25, when Venus Williams broads wings on her 25th US Open singles appearance. The two-time champion in singles and two-time champion in doubles plays No. 11 seed Karolina Muchova at 7 p.m. local time. Williams also brings her mixed doubles team to the tournament and remains one of the greatest endurance players in tennis at the age of 45.

Next after Williams is men’s No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz, already a five-time Grand Slam champion at the age of 22 and making his second attempt to win a second major trophy in the same arena where he claimed his first at 19. The role of Roland-Garros winner will bring a match with American Reilly Opelka, a partner of Williams in the doubles, which is considered to be a significant test of strength in the night session. Their successive matches would bring a thrilling beginning to the tournament.

In the meantime, the hype around Alcaraz is not just with regard to his singles performance. The name “Raducaraz”, his partnership with Emma Raducanu in the mixed doubles, was lit up by the nickname on social media, and speculation about matters off the court. In the male field, fans are also looking forward to an up-and-coming rivalry between the top-ranked player in the world, Jannik Sinner, and Alcaraz, thus believing that this will be the rivalry of the current age of tennis.

Other stars appearing on the opening day are Australian Open winner Madison Keys, Canadian sensation Victoria Mboko, U.S. favorite Frances Tiafoe, and Olympian bronze medalist Petra Kvitova, who will retire after this event.
