Rishi Sunak Announces July 4, 2024, Date for UK’s General Election

The year 2024 is full of major general elections in Asia, America and now Europe, the UK announced general election 2024 dates. PM of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak called for a general election of July 4, 2024.

This will be the first general election in five years and the competition will be tough, the future of the Conservative Party may have to face challenges in this election.

During his statement from Downing Street Sunak said he talked with King Charles to dissolve the parliament for general elections.

Sunak announced that “The king has granted this request and the general elections will be held on July 4.”

What could be the scenario in UK general election 2024?

During this election the Keir Starmer is leading the Labour party and this can create challenges for ruler party Conservatives. According to the reports of Reuters, the Sunak’s Party Conservatives can face a loss in upcoming elections.

Let us tell you that Conservatives have been in power for 14 years.

Public opinion of Sunak’s government has declined, with Labour leading the Conservatives by about 20 percentage points. Since becoming Prime Minister less than two years ago, Rishi Sunak has tried to be seen as a reformer, technocrat, and stable leader but hasn’t succeeded. The global cost-of-living crisis has overshadowed any of his achievements.

Sunak’s decision to call early snap elections has split his party. Some Conservatives think it’s the right time due to possible legal issues and economic uncertainties, while others were surprised by the move.

The election campaign has started in Britain

Both parties of Britain have started election campaigns focusing on the economy and defense. The Labor Party began to allege that Britain’s economy was in bad shape due to mismanagement by the Conservatives for 14 years.

What will be the election procedure?

All the 650 members of the House of Commons will be elected by the voters across the UK for a tenure of 5 years.  The party that will receive the majority here will form the government in the UK.

Many issues like immigration, health care, environment, and poor economy are the major issues in this election, parties will explore these to get votes and woo the public.

We will get to know who will be the next PM of UK soon, stay connected.
