UAE Concludes 2024 with 10th Russia-Ukraine Captive Swap, 300 Exchanged

The UAE has successfully mediated another exchange of war captives between Russia and Ukraine. In the latest round of prisoners swap 150 Russian and 150 Ukrainian captives retunred to their home. 

According to the data by UAE’s official news agency WAM till now UAE has mediated and helped approx  2,484 prisoners of both nations to return their home. 

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) also thanked both the countries Ukraine and Russia for their cooperation in sending the prisoners home. This success by gulf nation UAE is highlighting that  UAE is gaining trust in the region. Nations are showing reliability on UAE. These prisoners swap during the war time is also showing commitment by UAE to establish peace, harmony and stability in world.

10th Round of Successful Mediation by UAE in 2024:

This prisoners swap of December 30 was the 10th round of successful mediation by UAE in year 2024. The Foreign Ministry of UAE said that these efforts are reflecting the trust of Russia and Ukraine on UAE. UAE is standing strong to find diplomatic solutions to establish peace.


Afra Al Hameli, the Director of Strategic Communications at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) made a tweet where she stated, The Ministry emphasized that the success of this new mediation, the tenth since the beginning of 2024, reflects the trust of Russia and Ukraine in the UAE.

Furthermore, the Ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to continuing all efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine. The UAE also aims to support all initiatives to mitigate the humanitarian repercussions resulting from the crisis, including on refugees and captives. 

Notably, since the beginning of this year, the UAE’s efforts have succeeded in completing ten exchanges of war captives between Russia and Ukraine, in addition to a successful exchange of two prisoners between the United States and the Russian Federation in December 2022.”

So after this recent prisoners exchange on end of the year 2024 highlighted the continous commitment of UAE on dedication to promote peace in Ukraine and supporting humanitarian efforts.

This is not the first mediation by the UAE. This gulf nation has played a major roles in other international mediations including facilitating a prisoner exchange between the United States and Russia in December 2022. These efforts shows the strong commitment by UAE to devlop dialogue, resolving conflicts worldwide.
