Trump Team Faces Turmoil Over Allegation Against Defense Nominee

Team of President Donald Trump was announcing new Cabinet picks this week when a sexual assault allegation came up against Pete Hegseth, his nominee for secretary of defense. The news surprised many in the team and raised doubts about whether his nomination would continue.

Hegseth a Fox News host and military veteran was selected with minimal vetting. Within 48 hours of the announcement the team learned of an allegation linked to an October 2017 incident in Monterey California. According to local police the allegation involved Hegseth at an event hosted by the California Federation of Republican Women.

Hegseth has not been charged with any crime and his attorney has denied the claims.

This isn’t the first time concerns have surfaced about Hegseth. During Trump’s previous term, sources said that Hegseth was briefly considered for a Department of Veterans Affairs role but was passed over due to similar issues.

Despite the controversy, Trump’s team continues to support Pete Hegseth
