Trump Slashes Funding for Voice of America in Federal Agency Overhaul

On Friday President Donald Trump used his executive authority to order big budget reductions at seven government agencies including Voice of America.

The order forces these agencies to reduce their activities to core functions mentioned in the relevant laws. As a main overseer of VOA transmissions to 40 distinct audiences the U.S. Agency for Global Media serves as the priority target for budget cuts. Trump formed a partnership with Lake to lead VOA even though she criticized mainstream media for opposing Trump and sought changes to publicly funded news outlets.

The presidential order affects the operations of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty along with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and Minority Business Development Agency. Through DOGE Trump partners with Elon Musk to run a government streamlining program that proposes letting go 100,000 employees and ending 1000+ government programs.
