Top Remote Jobs Americans Apply for Most in 2025

Even as more companies try to nudge people back to office desks, the appetite for remote work in the U.S. hasn’t faded. If anything, it feels stronger than it did a year ago. Job boards still show a kind of lopsided tension: fewer remote postings, but thousands more applicants chasing them. And it makes sense, remote work didn’t just give people flexibility; it changed how they think about their careers, commutes and even where they want to live.

Recruiters say some fully remote listings now attract more applicants in a few hours than an on-site role might in an entire week. The imbalance is obvious the moment you compare the numbers.

Tech and Data Jobs Still Out in Front

Tech roles keep dominating remote searches. Software developers, data analysts, and machine-learning engineers remain the backbone of remote hiring even as the industry goes through disruptions. The expansion of AI tools hasn’t reduced interest in these positions; it has only raised the competition. A junior developer working remotely might earn around $70,000 to $95,000, while senior engineers continue to pull salaries north of $130,000. It’s a wide range, but the pull is the same: work from anywhere and avoid the high cost of living near big tech hubs.

Customer Support and Administrative Jobs Climb Again

Remote customer-service positions have quietly become some of the most applied-for roles in the country. Remote.co and Indeed show especially high traffic for roles like virtual assistants, chat support agents, intake coordinators and phone-based customer support. The pay ranges from about $35,000 to $55,000, depending on the company. It’s not the biggest salary bracket, but the stability makes it appealing.

White-Collar Remote Work Is Still Holding Its Ground

Then you have the professional roles: HR coordinators, project managers, accountants, compliance analysts, and paralegals. Many workers in these fields adapted to remote work during the pandemic and simply don’t want to give it up. These jobs tend to pay anywhere from $60,000 to $110,000, and even when companies push hybrid arrangements, workers keep applying to fully remote roles.

The Most Applied-For Remote Roles Right Now

These roles consistently attract the highest number of applicants:

– Remote Customer Service Representative
– Remote Software Engineer
– Data Analyst / Data Scientist
– Virtual Administrative Assistant
– Project Coordinator / Remote Project Manager
– Content Writer / Copywriter
– Remote Accountant / Bookkeeper
– Social Media Manager
– Online Tutor / ESL Instructor
– Technical Support Specialist

Remote jobs have become more than a trend. They’ve become part of how people plan their lives, and it doesn’t look like that’s changing anytime soon.
