What’s Next for Syria? Ahmed al-Sharaa Shares Bold Plans in Viral Interview

In a very exclusive interview on Sunday with Middle Eastern news agency Al Arabiya News, Syria’s de facto leader Ahmed al-Sharaa talked openly about the future of Syria and Syrians. After the interview, the talks went viral on the internet. 

He stated that organizing elections in Syria could take up to four years, while drafting a new constitution may need three years.

What did the Syrian Leader say about the Elections and Public Services?

Al-Shara explained that conducting fair elections requires a full population census. This process could take time. The leader promised to improve the public services within a year in Syria. This statement is giving hope to Syrians who are hoping for a change and new start.

Al-Sharaa said the current appointments in Syria are aimed to maintain stability during this critical phase of the nation. He rejected any factional power-sharing as it could hinder progress.

Al-Sharaa showed support for ‘Right to Protest’

In the interview the Syrian leader supported peaceful protests, provided public institutions remain safe. He gave the people of Syria credit for the independence of Nation. Minister also assure that casualties and displacement could be avoided in the liberation process.

Ahmed al-Sharaa said, “During the liberation process, we ensured that there were no casualties or displacement”.

Negotiations with the SDF & Hayat Tahrir al-Sham Dissolution

According to the report by Al Arabiya, Al-Sharaa assured “There will be no division of Syria in any way.”

Al-Sharaa said that they are in talks with Syrian Democratic Forces to resolve the crisis in northeastern Syria. He assured that the new government would prevent Syria from attacks by external groups like the PKK.

The dissolution of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham will be announced at the upcoming national dialogue conference.

Al-Sharaa concluded his interview with a promise of long-term security for Syria.
